Mulberry School offers a continuous learning model that nurtures the whole child. In preschool, our curriculum supports social, emotional, and pre-academic growth. By Kindergarten, children engage in cooperative learning through whole and small group activities.

Students explore multi-disciplinary, project-based experiences alongside focused academic skill-building. With activities like dramatic play, movement, and Readers Theater, learning is both creative and engaging. Guided by Illinois Learning Standards, our teachers design flexible, inspiring curriculum.

At every stage, children are encouraged to make choices that build independence, confidence, responsibility, and respect—emerging as capable, compassionate individuals.

Learning That Nurtures the Whole Child

FIELD TRIPS

outside play and

Outside play is a vital part of life at Mulberry School. Our children explore far beyond the classroom—learning and playing on our playground, nearby parks, green space in the U-Drive, neighboring sports fields, the Constitution Trail, and our local community food forest. From our outdoor classroom and butterfly and flower gardens to planting herbs each year, nature is woven into our days and our learning.

Fields trips are another way we emphasize the importance of connecting students with experiences beyond the walls of our school. With at least one planned  a month, field trips bring learning to life through real-world experiences in the community. These outings encourage curiosity and exploration as students learn through hands-on activities, observation, and shared discovery in new environments. Some of our recent trips have been to Rader's Family Farm, The Normal Fire Station, and Iron Coyote.

Children at Mulberry School enjoy weekly art classes where they are exposed to a variety of media through hands-on studio experiences, introductions to artists, and a diverse range of artistic styles. Students have opportunities to respond to these experiences through art-making, conversation, movement, play, and storytelling.

ART

Exposure to Spanish begins in our preschool classes, where students participate in weekly sessions that incorporate games and activities featuring Spanish vocabulary, often connected to Latin or Spanish cultural customs. During these sessions, students practice both conversational and written Spanish skills, fostering a foundational appreciation for the language and culture.

Children at Mulberry School enjoy weekly music classes that introduce them to various styles of music, rhythms, instruments, and more in a fun and interactive setting. We believe that music should be enjoyable and engaging, allowing children to learn through singing, movement activities, and exposure to new instruments and sounds.

We know mornings can be busy and afternoons don’t always line up with the school bell — that’s why Mulberry School offers a flexible, family-friendly Before & After Care Program designed to support your schedule.

Available exclusively for Mulberry families for current students, our program provides safe, supervised care outside of regular school hours (8:50 AM – 2:50 PM).

Children enjoy a relaxed, comfortable environment where they can unwind, play, create, and connect with friends. This time is intentionally low-key and engaging — not an extension of the academic day — giving kids space to ease into their morning or wind down after school.

This summer, Mulberry transforms into a fun-filled hands-on camp experience for children ages 3 through Grade 3. Campers explore, create, and stay active through themed weeks packed with arts & crafts, games, water play, outdoor adventures, and team-building fun — all in a safe, nurturing environment.

Choose the full session at a discounted rate or pick individual days for flexible scheduling.

At Mulberry Summer Camp, kids don’t just pass the time — they grow, explore, and make unforgettable memories.
